Witnesses
As previously announced, SLU Law has elected to provide the witnesses for every round of the competition. Witnesses will be members of the SLU Law first year class. 49th NTC Rules 2023 (“NTC Rules”), Art.V.8.A.
Miscellaneous
• Pairings for Rounds 1 and 2: we will draw the random pairings by Zoom at a date in January. We will provide a link and record the random drawing for transparency. Host Rules, 6.2.
• Exhibits: each team is limited to enlarging and using 2 exhibits per round. NTC Rules Art. IV.4. The RTC Region 9 Host will not be providing any enlarged exhibits. Each team will be required to share these enlarged exhibits with the opposing team, subject to the rules pertaining to marking up such enlarged exhibits. NTC Rules, Art. IV. 4. If a team opts to use a demonstrative that they created before trial, such demonstrative is subject to the limit of 2 enlarged exhibits, the NTC Rules pertaining to use of pre-made demonstratives (NTC Rules, Art. VII.7), and must be made available for the opposing team to review at least 10 minutes before the Round begins (housekeeping, motions in limine).
• Learned Treatises Not Permitted: As the RTC host, we have elected to not permit participating schools to use learned treatises during rounds. 49th NTC Regional Host Handbook (“Host Rules”), 2.9.
• Pretrial motions. There will be no pretrial motions allowed during the competition. Art. VII 3 A (iv).
