How does a multiple-identity mindset affect people’s cognition and behavior?

Research shows that a multiple-identity mindset may increase creativity and have other cognitive benefits (Gaither et al., 2020; Gaither, Remedios, et al., 2015). In on-going research, we are exploring whether this mindset can have a broader effect on social behavior, particularly after cross-race interactions.
What are the influences of racialized emojis on people’s perception of online interactions?
This study looks at how people think about racialized emojis (e.g., a thumbs up or down with a darker skin tone rather than the default yellow). Do perceptions of racialized emojis differ based on who uses them (e.g., White versus Black texter)?
