Mikail Herrera

Mikail Herrera (He/Him) is a Senior English major at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign graduating with his Bachelor’s in the Spring of 2026. He graduated from West Chicago Community High School in the Spring of 2022. Mikail’s goal for after college is to pursue a Master’s in Secondary Education in hopes of becoming a high school English teacher.

Involvement

Mikail is currently a member of the Illinois Education Association (IEA) Aspiring Educators chapter at UIUC. He spends his time going to club meetings to learn about political action opportunities and attends professional development conferences around the state. Additionally, he volunteers in community schools through VIS-A-VIS, an on-campus RSO that pairs undergraduate students with participating teachers in need of classroom assistance. So far, he has been a teacher’s aide for a 6th Grade Social Studies class and a 6th grade English Language Arts class. Mikail is a member of the Delta Pi chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon at UIUC.

Interests & Hobbies

Mikail is an avid reader. He loves the Game of Thrones novels and is hoping to read the Lord of The Rings trilogy in the near future. He also is a consistent gym goer, making sure to keep his physical health in line with his mental health.  His fields of interest are in Writing, Romantic Literature, and Buddhism. He hopes to study more in areas of Child Psychology and Development.
