Schedule

Structure of Event

The Midwest Winter Workshop is composed of two primary elements: panel discussions and workshop pods that are focused on providing feedback to graduate student’s writing. Panels and workshop pods will be led by early-career to well-established faculty co-leaders from throughout the region. In the morning, concurrent panels will focus on topics related to professionalization, such as the job search, the publication process, or the public humanities.

Afternoon workshop pods are centered on student-submitted writing, with discussion and constructive critique led by faculty outside the student’s home institution. Along with the panels and workshop pods, there will be a keynote speaker.

Breakfast and lunch will be sponsored by the hosts, and University of Illinois graduate students will host their visiting colleagues in their own homes and apartments in order to build a strong community and defray attendance-related costs.
