Call for papers

We are pleased to announce the 29th Mid-Continental Phonetics and Phonology Conference (MidPhon 29), which will be held on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) from Friday, October 4 through Saturday, October 5, 2024.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is August 26, 2024.

Following the MidPhon tradition, this Workshop is intended to be an informal meeting of researchers interested in phonetics and phonology in our geographical area that we hope will result in a fruitful exchange of ideas. We invite submission of abstracts for 20-minute talks and posters on all topics in theoretical, descriptive, computational, and experimental phonology and phonetics. Both faculty and students may submit abstracts for either oral or poster presentation at the Workshop. Students are especially encouraged to submit abstracts, but must consult with their faculty advisors before submitting and copy them on the submission. Abstract guidelines are given below.

Please forward this email to your students and others at your institution or other institutions in the Midwest area who you think may be interested.

We look forward to welcoming you to UIUC in October!
