The sleuth work of Univision’s late-night news anchor Enrique Acevedo uncovered an interesting piece of artwork at the Trump National Doral Miami, a golf resort that is owned by Donald Trump.
Back in 2014, Trump purchased a four-foot-tall portrait of himself, painted by Miami Beach-based artist Havi Schanz. Initially, Trump made a bid on the artwork with his own money but later paid for it using a check from his charity, the Donald J Trump Foundation. Under tax laws, charity leaders are barred from using charity funds for personal purchases. The portrait was kept in a hidden location.
Acevedo was browsing Twitter and found a story covered by the Washington Post that said that the famous piece of art was at the Doral resort. Later, a photo of the artwork was spotted on the website Tripadvisor.com. Curious, Acevedo went to check it out for himself.
After taking some time to search, Acevedo found the portrait hanging in the basement on the wall of the bar at the golf course.
He later posted his findings to Twitter, tagging the reporter of the lead he found on Twitter: David Fahrenthold, of the Washington Post. The Post gladly followed the finding with an article of how Acevedo found the piece.
