In his graduate study, he was originally fascinated by the complexity and delicacy of biological structure and tried to explore the mechanical properties of them. Inspired by the natural design of those structures, he wants to utilize those structural concepts, decipher the secrets and finally apply them to real structures. He published two papers about triggering lateral deformation of composite structures with applied stretch and their phononic band gap properties. Those topics are leading to a broader topic of Meta-material, a new field he is stepping into.
