Pre-health students are invited to the upcoming AMSA National Fall Conference, hosted by the AMSA Chapter and administration of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, on Saturday, November 21. All information can be found at www.AMSAFallConference.org
The theme of the Chicago conference is Communication at the Center of Care and will feature four programming tracks:
- Compassionate communication with patients
- Effective communication within the healthcare team
- Impassioned communication for patient advocacy and community engagement
- Exploring the skills and competencies necessary for residency
The program will feature Catherine Wallace PhD as the morning keynote speaker, addressing the power of narratives for improving patient care, patient advocacy, and provider well-being. The afternoon workshops are designed as skills-building workshops to support pre-health and health professional students’ competencies in deep listening (through the use of Medical Improv); interprofessional collaborative practice; and advocacy (patient advocacy and policy advocacy.
