The iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machines) team is currently recruiting for this summer. If you’re interested in using genetically engineered organisms (typically bacteria) to solve problems, it’s a fantastic opportunity!
Don’t have synbio experience? That’s alright! They will train you from the basics onward if need be. What they ARE looking for is somebody with a firm grasp of either web design / html / systems modeling (think Matlab / Simbiology), or anybody with a passion for genetic engineering and getting hands on experience tinkering with microbes.
If you are interested, please attend their info session. It’ll be held on Tuesday, November 17, at 7pm, in 612 IGB (Institute of Genomic Biology). If you’re interested but cannot attend, email illinoisigem@gmail.com for more information and they’ll add you to their mailing list so that you can get the applications as soon as it comes out.
