MCB/Biochemistry Exciting Mentorship Opportunity!

Attention pre-health students! Deadline to apply for mentorship has been extended till noon on Sunday, September 27.

Pathways to Pre-Health Information Session, Thursday, October 1, 4:30 to 6:00 PM, 124 Burrill Hall

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear personal perspectives on the path to medical school and beyond. Come prepared with any and all questions that you have about this process. We will have a panel of physicians and alumni from biology and UIUC available to share their stories and answer your questions.

Seniors, are you completing applications and preparing for interviews? You can get first hand information from a member of medical school admissions committee. All questions are welcome and encouraged.

Dinner and Mentorship Opportunity for MCB and Biochemistry Students

In addition to our information session we are offering an EXCITING MENTORSHIP OPPORTUNITY for 2 to 4 outstanding students in MCB or Biochemistry. The students will be chosen based on their academic record and their response to an essay question. The winning students will be invited to have dinner with some of our panel members immediately following the presentation October 1 (6:15 – 8:30PM). They will also have the opportunity for a mentorship experience with one of our select alumni. Past participants in the mentorship program need not apply again.

Interested applicants should complete the following form, http://go.illinois.edu/mcbmentor, by 12PM Sunday September 27 for full consideration. The form requires you to provide your name, email, UIN, major(s), minor(s), graduation date, GPA (overall and major), post-graduate goals, extracurriculars and an answer to the following prompt:

In less than two, double spaced, type written pages (12pt, 1 inch margins), please discuss what you feel are the greatest challenges facing the health care delivery system in the next decade and why. Please support your opinion.

Please note this opportunity is only available for students with a declared major in MCB, MCB Honors concentration or Biochemistry, specialized curriculum.
