Training

Staff from the university’s Export Control and Conflict of Interest Offices are available to meet with members of the Illinois research community. We can answer individual questions or arrange custom training for large groups.

Conflict of Interest Training

UIUC’s Policy on Conflicts of Commitment and Interest mandates disclosure and pre-approval of income-producing outside activities for all paid academic staff members, whether part-time or full-time employees.

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs oversees university-wide compliance with state and federal requirements. The OVPAA website provides forms, answers to frequently asked questions, and other resources relating to our annual disclosure process, the Report of Non-University Activities. At UIUC, the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation is responsible for the implementation of the policy. Contact the campus Conflict of Interest Officer to discuss training options.

Export Control Training

Export Control regulations can be complex and determining if and when your activity or research may require an export license is not easy.

Online Training

CITI Programs Export Compliance Training
Export Controls provides an overview of export compliance regulations along with information specifically tailored to certain roles, responsibilities, and activities through the CITI Programs portal. To register for the first time, log in through “My Institution”, select our organization affiliation.  Follow the subsequent prompts to set yourself up as a learner. Each course module consists of instructional text, related case studies, and a quiz.  The quiz can be retaken until a minimum passing score of 80 percent is achieved.

In-Person Training

Export Compliance Officers can tailor training to departments, colleges, and institutes. To schedule a targeted training, contact us at 217-333-2187, or email exportcontrols@illinois.edu.
