A little bit about me!
Hi! My name is Maeve Ciesla (may-eve chess-la). My pronouns are she/her/hers.
I am from the western suburbs of Chicago and graduated from Lyons Township High School in 2023.
I am a Junior majoring in English and minoring in Secondary Education and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). After graduation, I hope to teach English to high school students in the Chicago land area.
I am an executive board member of the English Student Association (ESA) where I am a co-writer of the monthly newsletter. I am also a member of Golden Apple Illini and Stitching Illini.
I have participated in student research with the Social Studies Network through the College of Education. I researched current events affecting Social Studies teachers and presented my research in a podcast format. If you are interested in seeing more check out the Soical Studies Network on Youtube.
I am a 2023 Golden Apple Scholar. Through Golden Apple I have completed Scholar Institutes intro and 1, during my SI 1 I student taught at Bogan High School in Chicago for their 2024 summer school program.
Outside of classes, my hobbies include crochet, playing video games on my switch, going to the gym, reading (my favorite genres are realistic fiction, memoirs, and horror), journaling, and watching movie/t.v. with my friends. Some fun facts about me are that my favorite food is sandwiches, I love hiking, and I have a dog named Cosmo who is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
