Transparent Language

The Library is currently running a trial (till August 3, 2011) of the web-based language-learning resource Transparent Language Online for Libraries. This resource provides access to a range of resources for learning over 80 languages.

Information covered by Transparent Language includes everything from basic verbs and other fundamentals of these languages to more in-depth vocabulary required for conversation and travel. You can test your pronunciation and listen to recordings of spoken language, and the site also provides guidance on grammar and information about the histories and cultural contexts of languages.

Users can access Transparent Language through http://library.transparent.com/skipjacklibrary/flashcards/login. The username is “illinois1” and the password is “password”. Please send feedback about Transparent Language to Paula Carns (pcarns@illinois.edu), Literature and Language Library.
