Lisa Janicke Hinchliffe Elected to the Board of Directors for the Society for Scholarly Publishing

Lisa Janicke Hinchliffe has been elected as a member of the board of directors for the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP).

“It is an honor to contribute to SSP in this way. I envision myself with a dual-facing role: (1) working closely with the President and Executive Director and (2) connecting with and understanding the needs of the general membership. As a librarian, I will bring that vantage point to the Board’s discussions and decision-making,” said Hinchliffe.

DoMonique Arnold Awarded the J. Frederick Miller Award

 

DoMonique Arnold, head librarian at the University Laboratory High School, has been awarded the J. Frederick Miller Award for her volunteer work throughout the Champaign-Urbana community.

The J. Frederick Miller Award is given for distinguished volunteer service by a staff or faculty member of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or a member of the Religious Workers Association of Urbana-Champaign. The Miller Award is given to an individual who has made significant contributions as a volunteer during his or her life in the local community.  The award recognizes direct public service to the campus or local community and efforts of organizing and delivering community service. The award honors volunteer participation which, in the judgment of the Board of Governors of the University YMCA, reflects an expression of moral understanding and civic responsibility and stands as a model of such service to students and others in this community.

Dr. Clara M. Chu Receives EMIERT Distinguished Librarian Award from American Library Association

 

Dr. Clara M. Chu, Mortenson Distinguished Professor and Director of the Mortenson Center for International Library Programs and an affiliated faculty at the iSchool, is honored with the 2019 American Library Association (ALA), Ethnic and Multicultural Information Exchange Round Table (EMIERT) Distinguished Librarian Award. The Distinguished Librarian Award recognizes significant accomplishments in library services that are national or international in scope and include improving, spreading, and promoting multicultural librarianship.
