Highly Commended Paper Award for Faculty

“Technology on demand: Implementing loanable technology services at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign” published in Library Hi Tech has been chosen as a Highly Commended Award Winner at the 2012 Literati Network Awards for Excellence.  The paper was one of the most impressive pieces of work the journal’s Editorial Team had seen throughout 2011.  The paper’s authors include Susan Avery, Jim Hahn, Lori Mestre, and David Ward–all of the Undergraduate Library.

Article Selected for Reference Research Review

“Expanding the reference vocabularly: A methodology for applying Bloom’s taxonomy to increase instruction in the reference interview” by David Ward, reference services librarian, was chosen for the Reference Research Review: 2011.  This annual bibliography highlights selected works in the reference literature.  Items published in 2011 were selected and annotated by members of the American Library Association, RUSA/RSS Research & Statistics Committee (2011-2012). Robert Cagle Selected for Visiting Scholars Program

Robert Cagle, library cinema studies specialist, has been chosen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea to participate in the 2012 Visiting Scholars Program.  The program provides prominent scholars and critics in the field of culture, literature, film, fine arts, design, performing arts, and music with the opportunity to visit South Korea for in-depth research on topics related to Korean culture.  Cable was nominated for the honor in recognition of his recent work on Korean pop music and television dramas.

Jim Hahn Named Outstanding Reviewer

Photo of Jim HahnJim Hahn, orientation services and environments librarian, was chosen as an Outstanding Reviewer at the 2012 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence.  Each year, Emerald names and rewards the Outstanding Reviewers who contribute to the success of the journals.  They are chosen following consultation amongst the journal’s Editors.  Hahn was selected for the very impressive and significant contribution he made as a Reviewer to Reference Services Review throughout 2011.
