- COURTHOUSE INFORMATION
- The National Rounds will take place at the Richard J. Daley Center, Circuit Court of Cook County (50 W. Washington St., Chicago, IL 60602). No food or drinks (except water) will be allowed in the courthouse or courtrooms.
- All students, coaches, and spectators need to bring a photo ID to the courthouse every day. To enter, you must show ID to security, and there will be a student check in with AAJ staff to show ID and identify students with their team. All teams should plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to the round start time.
- HOTEL ROOM BLOCK
- Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago, 100 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60603 (approximately a 5-minute walk to the courthouse)
- Rate: $159/night
- The room block link will be sent next week, as we are still finalizing the contract. Please be on the lookout – it is first come, first served.
- You do not need to book at the room block, this is simply for your convenience. This should be used for coaches and competitors only, not for spectators.
- There will be grab-and-go breakfast available to competitors at the hotel on Saturday and Sunday morning.
- JUDGE RECRUITMENT
- If you have contacts in the Chicago-area, please share the judging sign-up link with them!
- TRIAL TECHNOLOGY
- Teams may not use technology during the National Tournament. Teams may also not use any phones or smart watches during the trials.
- Rules regarding physical exhibit enlargements will be added to the fact pattern. We will send an updated fact pattern with adjustments regarding in-person Nationals rules next week at the latest.
- STUDENTS
- The same students who competed on the winning teams in the Regional Tournaments must compete in Nationals. No substitutions are allowed. If a student is unable to attend Nationals, the team will be allowed to compete as a team of three, with one student playing both witness roles.
- Any trial technicians that participated with a team in the Regionals may attend the competition and sit behind the team during the trial but may not sit at counsel table.
- SPECTATORS
- Spectators will be permitted in the courtrooms. They are not permitted to wear any clothing that would identify one of the schools in the competition. They are not permitted to scout other teams; they should only be in the courtrooms of students to whom they have a personal connection.
