Documentary Masterpiece

Citizenfour is a documentary masterpiece that is about Edward Snowden, famous for leaking NSA’s illegal surveillance techniques to the public. All the documents are classified and Edward had to flee the country or he would have gone to prison for his actions.

The documentary is filmed by Glen Greenwald and Ewen MacAskill in Hong Kong where Edward was living for the moment. They were among the first people to meet Edward after he fled the country and their interview with him was one of the most important ones in history.

The documentary is captivating and brings up a lot of emotions. I definitely feel for Edward, and I don’t think it’s fair to make him into such a target. I believe that he did the right thing and I think this documentary is focusing on showing that.

I would recommend this to a friend and then I would tell them to watch the most recent version, a movie made in 2016 called Snowden. They are both interesting, Citizenfour being more about reality and Snowden being more of an action movie.
