Kurt Gimbel is a Masters Graduate Student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Nuclear, Plasma and Radiological Engineering with a focus on Plasma and Fusion.
After over a decade in the world of software testing, Kurt has returned to continue his education in the hopes of providing software tools that will aid in the development of models for plasma processes including fusion.
Kurt’s current research involves implementing a Monte Carlo based collision operator in order to model erosion processes on plasma-facing components of fusion capable devices.
