Reflection

For the most part, I did a good job completing this assignment according to the comments left by Professor Hays. I had a good brief summary of the issues discussed in the documentary, good analysis of the elements of cinema, and good acknowledgement of the source. One minor error I fixed was making my title more explicit. While my title was great according to Professor Hays, it did not specify whether if it was a movie review. To fix this, I revised the title to “A Seed’s Journey to the American Household: A Movie Review.” I also added a word count to the document.

After re-reading my paper, I realized a key component was missing. For an efficient movie critique, I must discuss both the positive and negative aspects of the movie. I only focused on the positive aspects. To fix this, I included a paragraph addressing a flaw I found within the documentary. I discussed what the flaw was and its greater implications.

After completing this assignment, I learned the importance of considering both sides of a story. Every book, movie, story, poem, etc has both its pros and cons.  By understanding and evaluating both, you are in effect helping your audience get a firmer grasp on the topic. By discussing both the positive and negative information of a topic, your audience are well-informed and is able to formulate their opinion. Moving forward, I hope to incorporate both sides of a story to ensure improved clarity for my audience.
