Mahmood Rajabtabar Darvish Receives IEEE NER 2025 Student Travel Award

We are delighted to share that Mahmood Rajabtabar Darvish, a PhD student in the Yang Lab at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, has been selected as a recipient of the IEEE NER 2025 Student Travel Award. This recognition highlights Mahmood’s outstanding contributions as a student author and presenter at the upcoming IEEE International Conference on Neural Engineering (NER 2025). His selection among a highly competitive pool of applicants reflects his dedication to advancing research in neuroengineering and medical imaging.

The IEEE International Conference on Neural Engineering (NER) is a premier global forum organized by the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS). The conference brings together researchers, clinicians, and engineers from around the world to exchange ideas and explore innovations at the intersection of neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and technology. NER has become a central venue for showcasing cutting-edge research shaping the future of brain–machine interfaces, neuroprosthetics, computational modeling, and neural signal processing.

The NER Student Travel Award supports emerging researchers presenting their work at the conference by providing travel funding and registration waivers. Awardees are selected based on the merit and impact of their research, as well as their demonstrated commitment to the field. In 2025, only 17 students worldwide received this honor, representing institutions across North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Mahmood’s recognition underscores his promising contributions to the neuroengineering community and his continued excellence as part of our research group.
