Jordan Williamson Receives Honorable Mention for 2025 GeroScience Publication Award

We proudly congratulate Jordan Williamson on receiving the Honorable Mention for the 2025 GeroScience Outstanding Original Research Paper Award at the American Aging Association’s 53rd Annual Meeting.

This prestigious award, jointly presented by the American Aging Association and GeroScience, recognizes exceptional contributions to aging research published in the journal GeroScience. The Honorable Mention acknowledges papers that show groundbreaking insight and scientific rigor in advancing our understanding of aging and age-related diseases.

Williamson’s award-winning article, “Sex difference in brain functional connectivity of hippocampus in Alzheimer’s disease“, published in GeroScience, explores how Alzheimer’s disease (AD) differently affects brain connectivity in males and females. Her research revealed that males with AD show significantly stronger interhemispheric functional connectivity between the left and right hippocampus compared to females, offering key insights into sex-specific mechanisms underlying AD and highlighting the potential for tailored treatments in precision medicine. Williamson’s findings not only extend previous work on mild cognitive impairment but also underscore the importance of considering biological sex in clinical diagnosis and therapeutic design.
