Prof. Dallesasse earned his Ph.D from UIUC under the tutelage of Dr. Nick Holonyak Jr. in 1991. After over 20 years in industry, including jobs such as Vice President of MicroLink Devices and Senior Director of Engineering and Technology for Emcore’s Fiber Optics Division, Prof. Dallesasse rejoined UIUC in 2012 as an associate professor.

Earning his full professorship in 2018, Prof. Dallesasse has a dedication to research and mentorship. Maintaining a small group size, he has overseen 7 Ph.D and 3 M.S. during his time at UIUC (last updated: SP 2023). Most of his graduates enter into industry, joining companies like Apple and Intel. The graduates who have continued in academia have joined university such as UC Berkely and UC Santa Barbara.
