Zunaira Shoaib
Zunaira graduated with a BS in Biotechnology from Pakistan and then achieved her MSc in Biotechnology with distinction from UK. She joined JI labs at UIUC as a PhD student in 2020 and is a recipient of the US-PAK fellowship. She is co-advised by Dr Irudayaraj and Dr Timothy Fan (Pathobiology, College of Vet Med). Being a part of both labs helps her conduct interdisciplinary research on the mechanobiology of bone cancer (osteosarcoma). She is interested in studying how osteosarcoma biology changes in response to the mechanical forces exerted by varying bone microarchitecture. She is currently collaborating with Harley labs at UIUC on tunable 3D collagen scaffolds as a model for osteosarcoma study.
