Analysis of Job ads: What is Human-centered data science in practices?

In line with human-centered information technology, a rise of data science calls for human-oriented technology utilized on data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. iSchool have successfully secured and maintained data science programs, thus follow-up research on data science in real world practices is needed. The researcher of this project will conduct the analysis of US-based data science job market in the iSchool context. The researcher will extract key phrases from job advertisements produced for two years (2019-2020) with a focus on job responsibilities and desired skills to verify if the identified core competency and a model of human-centered Data Science (Shah et al., 2021; Wu et al., 2020) are present in US-based data science job market.

Preferred skills/expertise
– NLP experience (text analysis e.g., topic modeling)
– Web scrapping (Phython, JavaScript, HTML)

Likely length of commitment
– one semester to a full academic year
