Did you know that you can rate the dog of the day at the Help Desk? In this case, it’s a two-for-one deal. Just two dog friends posing in front of their weird house.
How would you rate these tiny pals?

This is related to last week’s tech tip concerning IllinoisNet WiFi!
If you’re an Android user, connecting to IllinoisNet WiFi will look a little different than your iPhone peers.
It takes just a few extra steps, and you might need to download a wifi certificate before you login with your NetID and password. Visit this helpful resource from UIUC Tech Services for more detailed directions here.
The TTW is short and sweet this week but this is good to keep in mind when you start the initial troubleshooting process.
Always double check that you are connected to Illinois Net wifi!
If printing from your laptop isn’t working or you suddenly stop having access to the webpages, your wifi connection may be to blame. Double check that your computer didn’t default to the guest account!
Do you love student perks? Who doesn’t! Did you know that there is a ton of free software available to UIUC students?
Visit the Webstore to download necessary products like Microsoft Office! Through the Webstore, you can also purchase discounted software as a student.
For this week’s TTW, we wanted to share something tricky about Box.
Are you wanting to store files in Box? If you’ve never used it before, be sure to go through the set-up process under “Sign Up” first. It seems like you should just be able to login with your NetID and password, but you will have to make an account first!
Less of a tech tip and more of a check-in for this week.
Did you just recently graduate? If so, congratulations! If not, congratulations on not needing to panic about the job hunt yet!
If you did just graduate, there are some things that you should do in order to put all your little iSchool ducks in a row.
Back to our regular scheduled programming:
This is our sixth TTW!
If your number one fear is presenting and public speaking, this might be a rough stretch in the semester. But knowing how to present in Blackboard Collaborate Ultra makes it all a little easier, right?
Check out this quick-guide that one of our fellow Helpers put together. It instructs you on how to successfully application share!
Go ahead and practice in the Drop-In Room!
The Desk and friends had a great time at the Illinois Marathon 5K this past weekend.
We got medals! We had matching tee-shirts! We have creepy unsuspecting photos that they just send to your email after the race!
But we had a great time.
Four members of the team are graduating this semester, so this was a great excuse to all get together again.
We’re getting even closer to the end of the semester! Graduation is officially looming in the (close) distance.
Do you know how to access transcripts of the official and unofficial variety?
If you’re a current student/are graduating this spring:
Don’t have an active NetID?
Both of these options are for electronic transcripts. If you need a paper one, consult the Registrar Transcript page again for more detailed information.
Being able to easily access your transcripts is a great incentive to keep your NetID and password updated regularly!
While we at the Help Desk can point you in the general right direction, any specific transcript questions should go to the Transcript/Records office (217) 333-9778.
Happy Tuesday!
Warm, sunny, clear day here at the iSchool. On my walk to the building this morning, I saw squirrels rummaging through dumpsters and a crushed dragonfly on the sidewalk. Around noon, there will be an distinct onion ring smell wafting down Daniel street. It’s the little things, people.
Anyways, here is the TTW:
Does this look all too familiar?
Is Blackboard running slowly or not running at all? First step for troubleshooting this problem is clearing out your cache and cookies! Check out this Chrome how-to here.
