Hello reader! It is the beginning of May and I am feeling like time is getting away, but in the best ways. Although school can be overwhelming, I know I am going to miss it a lot </3. Nonetheless, I am both anxious and thrilled about completing my final assignments and attending graduation. Here are a few things on my mind as of late.
Reflections
I have been reflecting a lot lately on school, life, and professional aspirations. And something that continues to come up for me is to make sure that I look to the stars but keep myself grounded as well. I cannot accept any accomplishment without feeling abundant gratitude for my loved ones, family, friends, mentors, and the kindness of strangers. So, I try to make decisions and plans from a solid place within my heart and by simply asking for help, which is so hard for me sometimes and I am trying to learn better ways to attempt. On another note, it was recently Eid! And the older I get I think I find the holiday more and more special especially because the years pass by and some loved ones are not with us during these cherished celebrations. Regardless, it is always a beautiful time to pause and spend time with others, dressed nicely, and having so much tea and sweets.
Job Updates
In terms of job searching updates, I have been invited to a university for an on-campus part of the interview! And I am dearly, incredibly, excited! Something I am learning the more I am given the chance to interview with prospective institutions is that there is so much I learn about my interests and that has been nice. Especially because I do not think that I had the language or confidence to say what I am interested in or the pedagogies I care deeply about within my professional field. But that has changed while looking for positions and trying to make sense of my past experiences in tandem with librarian roles I hope to someday fulfil well. All I can share right now is that things will move in their respective time and all I can do is my best to stay afloat, present, and grounded.
I would also like to quickly share that at my current graduate assistantship with Moraine Valley Community College I have been having the best of times. Community colleges are incredible academic spaces that deserve so much more credit. Anyways, I am currently working on a research guide project focused on environmental sustainability and I hope to share a completed version of the guide in my May blog post. I mention this, because I am using Adobe Express and recommend others to learn about the tool because I think it is so cute and effective either in organising information, resume stuff, or creating a presentation.
Thank you for reading my blog post! And I wish my other graduating iSchool ambassadors lots of love and continued feelings of accomplishment as graduation comes and all the good that is yet to come. Yay!
