Within a food system perspective, IFSI works to address food insecurity through a commitment to innovative research, empowering outreach and capacity building, and objective evaluation.

Affiliated Programs
IFSI serves as a hub to coordinate cooperation among four relevant programs at the University of Illinois towards a common goal of food security. These programs include: Soybean Innovation Lab (SIL), ADM Institute for the Prevention of Postharvest Loss, AgReach, and Appopriate Scale Mechanization Consortium (ASMC).

Initiative – Big Data, Food Security and the Environment

The International Food Security at Illinois program launched the Initiative on Big Data, Food Security and the Environment in April 2016 with the goal of bringing together researchers and stakeholders to use big data tools to reduce world hunger while improving the stewardship of natural resources.
