Carena van Riper is an environmental social scientist who conducts applied research to solve social-ecological problems. She is particularly interested in understanding how environmental values influence human behavior and decisions in the context of protected areas. She has been working closely with resource management agencies over the past 10 years to solve complex problems and facilitate public participation in decision-making. She is looking forward to learning more about the communities and landscapes in the Denali region
