Using Those with Social Media Expertise around You—STUDENTS!

Thursday, December 3, 2015
Media Career Services and the Technology Entrepreneur Center (an office on campus that has recently hired students) will partner up to discuss successfully hiring and using the expertise of College of Media students to help with social media, websites, etc. The conversation will center around two things:

1 – How to go about hiring students.
2 – How to utilize students after hiring them.

The goal of this presentation is to show offices that really don’t have the time or knowledge to manage such things on their own that there is a way to still be “in the game” with limited resources and to teach them how to be good managers of students while doing so.

Presenters:
Jessica Hogue serves as the first director of Career Services in the College of Media. Prior to becoming director in 2013, she was an assistant director at Business Career Services. She is an Illinois alumna with a B.S. in business administration and an M.S. in college student affairs from Eastern Illinois University. With an undergraduate emphasis in marketing, she also gained professional experience by working for more than four years at Paragon Marketing Group, a sports and entertainment marketing agency, in Niles, Ill. Follow @IllinoisMCS.

Ashley Hipsher is the marketing coordinator for the Technology Entrepreneur Center. She joined TEC in June 2015, and her responsibilities include providing marketing support to TEC faculty and staff through program marketing, evaluation, event planning, and coordination. Ashley plays a vital role in social media design, development and implementation of social media campaigns used to increase awareness of the Technology Entrepreneur Center and their programs and events both on and off campus. Ashley enjoys working with passionate students who are determined to turn their idea into something more—and the resources TEC can provide to turn their dream into a reality. Ashley graduated from Illinois State University in 2011 with a B.S. in public relations before working for Gill Athletics and First Busey Corporation in various marketing roles. Follow @TECenter.
