Keynote Speaker: Keith Hannon

Keith Hannon is the associate director for social media at Cornell University. He manages the Cornell alumni communities on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram; an aggregate population of 80,000+ alumni. He was the chair and presenter at the CASE Social Media Conference 2014 and 2015. Keith has also presented at Academic Impressions’ Social Media Conference and is a blog writer for CASE and Evertrue.

His past life as an aspiring video artist has helped engage alumni via both livestreaming and YouTube videos. Most recently he has been breaking new ground experimenting with prospect research on the development and refinement of a process for prospect identification on social networks and implementing a crowdfunding platform that aims to attract previously unengaged donors.

Before Cornell, Hannon worked for Nickelodeon television and Six Degrees Games. Follow him @KeithHannon.

You’re Not the Only Game in Town: Developing Social Content that Engages and Moves the Needle
We’ve reached a point in higher education where everyone pretty much agrees social media should be part of your institution’s communications strategy. However, being ON social media and being ENGAGING on social media are two very different things. Your students and alumni are not on social media because YOU are there, YOU are on social media because THEY are there. Knowing this, we’ll discuss how to develop and execute a social content strategy that competes with the endless amount of content on the social web and engages you constituency in a way that aligns with your internal goals.
