Directions, Maps, Parking
Champaign-Urbana is readily accessible to visitors by car, plane, train, or bus. A number of interstate, U.S., and state highways serve the motorist.
If you plan to drive, I-72, I-74, and I-57 all lead directly to Champaign-Urbana. You can also arrive by train or bus at the Illinois Terminal , which is two miles away from campus.
IJAS Parking and Transportation Information
Session Locations:
The poster sessions will be held at State Farm Center on Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd. Directions to State Farm Center can be found HERE.
The paper session will be held at the Illini Union on Saturday, May 3rd. Direction to the Illini Union can be found HERE.
Parking:
Parking at State Farm Center is free for cars and buses and is available in any of the quad lots immediately surrounding the facility.
Metered parking is available on streets surrounding the Illini Union. Below are the mobile parking apps that are most frequently used:
In addition to the metered parking, there are several parking lots that are approximately 10-15 minutes walking distance from the Illini Union that are free to park in on Saturdays. Below are the lot locations that are free on Saturdays:
- Krannert Center for the Performing Arts Parking Garages (please note that there are height restrictions)
- Lot D1 on Illinois and Goodwin
- Lot D2 on Mathews
- Lot D9 on Illinois and Lincoln
- Lot B1 on Mathews and Springfield
- Lot A9 on Sixth and Healey
If traveling by bus, the following lots are free for parking on Saturdays and can accommodate buses:
- E14 on First and Kirby
- F23 on Florida and Lincoln
- B22 on University and Goodwin
Bus Transit Information:
Transportation between State Farm Center and the Illini Union is available by bus, via the Champaign Urbana Mass Transit District. There is a bus stop in Parking Lot E-14, just west of State Farm Center, across First Street. There is also a bus stop just outside the Illini Union, accessible off Green Street on the north side of the facility. You may utilize MTD’s Trip Planner for access to bus departure times and approximate travel times between the two locations. There is no admission fee to board the bus at either of these bus stops.
If you are traveling by bus (not Mass Transit), the students may be dropped off and picked up the Illini Union on Friday. If the drivers are looking for a location to park the bus during the banquet on Friday evening, the buses may be parked/staged at State Farm Center or one in of the previously mentioned bus parking locations.
Please note that the University of Illinois and the IJAS will not be responsible for any fines or fees that are incurred by parking in a location and not abiding by the rules or guidelines associated with parking. This includes parking tickets, tow bills, etc. Please be sure to read the posted rules at each parking location before leaving your vehicle. The rules and guidelines may vary for each day at each meter and/or parking lot.
