The Future of 3D Printing?

Welcome back from Spring Break everyone! I hope you had an excellent week away. This week I read an interesting article by science correspondent Hannah Devlin at The Guardian. Joseph DeSimone, a chemistry professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, points out that the process we normally consider 3D printing “is actually a misnomer; it is actually 2D printing over and over again”. DeSimone and his colleagues have developed a new technique, which can more honestly be called 3D, where a platform lifts a printed object from a reservoir of liquid resin. Will this be the new future of 3D printing? You decide!
