There are over 250 species of insects known from Illinois Beach including at least 13 species of dragonfly, 41 species of grasshoppers and crickets, 27 species of caddisfly, 9 species of ants, and 18 species of bees. There may be up to 100 species of butterfly found at Illinois Beach.
