Can you tell me about your experience with IDS2?
It has been a great experience so far. A very encouraging academic environment, I like it so far.
What are you working on?
I am working on reinforcement learning problems which are basically learning from interacting with the environment, to make optimal decision making under uncertainty. The applications are very broad. The most famous application is alpha zero. In those more famous applications, people are using reinforcement learning methods to develop computer programs that can beat graph masters of chess and other games. Those algorithms can be used in many applications from finance and robotics to recommendation systems.
What are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to creating theoretically sound algorithms for good applications for real life applications.
What is your schooling background?
I graduated from The Ohio State University with a PhD in electrical engineering in 2020. Before that, I got my master’s degree from Bilkent University and bachelor’s degree from Bogazici University, both in electrical engineering.
