Camp Details

Illinois Hip Hop Camp is a one-week, all-day experience for students completing 5th through 12th grade. The 2026 camp will take place in the Music Building (1114 W Nevada St., Urbana, IL) on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The camp will run daily (9am-4pm) from Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 12. A free public performance will take place in the early evening on Friday, June 12 showcasing the projects created by the campers during the week. Time and location for this performance are TBD.

During this week, campers will work with one another and alongside experienced artists and educators to create, record, and perform original Hip Hop music. They will have opportunities to explore beat production, audio engineering, songwriting, rapping, singing, performing, DJing, and more in a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive environment. No prior experience is required and all necessary equipment will be provided.

The cost to register for the 2026 camp is $300. This includes a t-shirt and daily lunches. Any potential camper in need of scholarship support to participate should contact Dr. Adam Kruse at akruse@illinois.edu.

The 2026 camp will be a day camp only. There is not an option for a dorm room or overnight supervision for campers.
