Matteo Martinelli received his PhD in 2023 at the University of Pavia in Italy with the Sarlah group. During this time, he worked on dearomatization-based strategies for building molecular complexity, high-throughput experimentation for the discovery of novel reactivity, and total synthesis. The doctorate was completed in collaboration with SpiroChem AG, Basel, Switzerland, where Matteo spent some time in the R&D group, optimizing a HAT-based methodology for the installation of electrophilic warheads. 

In the Hergenrother group, Matteo is part of the complexity-to-diversity team, contributing to the design and optimization of novel active anticancer compounds.
