“What is an Architect in society today?” an Interview with Patrik Schumacher

Patrick Schumacher, architect and partner at Zaha Hadid Architects, who famously stated that “Architecture is not Art,” argues that innovative architecture is informed by argument, theory, and the avant-garde,  while vernacular or commercial architecture remains merely functional.  He identifies the crisis inherent, however, in much of architectural theory springing from the modernist will to create utopias.
