Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code is an international organization that aims to educate girls in programming and computer science with the goal of closing the gender gap in technology and science. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign chapter, founded in 2017, is proud to teach over 50 girls from beginner to advanced levels of coding and hardware systems.

Our chapter accepts female and non-binary students from 5th to 12th grade. No prior experience or computer is necessary! This program is free of cost.

We meet on Fridays from 1-3pm at the Siebel Center for Computer Science.

Many of our alumni have become computer science undergraduates at UIUC or other top colleges.

This program won the STRIVE Award from UIUC’s Womens’ Resource Center in 2023.
