GEDI Mission Statement

Graduate Engineers Diversifying Illinois (GEDI) seeks to develop STEM graduate students in the following areas: professional journal publication, industry and academia preparation, interdisciplinary research discourse, research grant proposals, and course/examination skills development.

GEDI’s goal is also to provide members with mental and emotional support, professional development opportunities, and an extension of knowledge in the form of tech talks, guest lectures, workshops, and conference exposure.

GEDI members are also involved in outreach focused on mentoring younger audiences in STEM fields.

Although GEDI was created to serve underrepresented graduate students solely within engineering disciplines, we are now hoping to foster community between underrepresented graduate students from all STEM disciplines. Additionally, though our focus is to serve the aforementioned population, we welcome all graduate students studying STEM!
