Characterization of wind loading during transient wind events
Tornadoes and thunderstorms generate extreme winds that cause significant damage to infrastructure. However, the wind induced loading for this extremes transient events is not fully understood. It has been speculated that, other than the magnitude of wind speed, the different physical flow properties, such as vertical wind speeds and rotational flow, causes the structures to fail under these extreme winds. In this project a numerical model is being developed to generate a better estimation of wind loading during transient events.
