Join the Farjam Research Group at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where we seek highly motivated students with strong communication skills and technical writing proficiency. Our research centers on developing innovative modeling and intelligent control strategies to enhance complex manufacturing systems.
What We Are Looking For:
We are searching for individuals who are passionate about innovation, particularly in the areas of modeling, sensing, and control. The ideal candidate will be eager to contribute to hands-on experimentation and the development of novel modeling and controls techniques.
Our lab offers a unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research, especially in high-resolution additive manufacturing. Students in our group will actively participate in the design, fabrication, and setup of experimental platforms, gaining experience that bridges both theoretical and practical aspects of engineering.
We are particularly interested in candidates who possess expertise in various areas. Strong programming skills in Matlab/Simulink, LabVIEW, Python, and G-Code are valuable. Additionally, mechanical skills in CAD design, 3D printing, machining, and hardware implementation are important. Experience in electrical work, such as circuit design, electronics, sensor integration, and soldering, is also highly desirable. A solid theoretical background in controls, dynamics, manufacturing processes, material science, and process control, along with experience in equipment like amplifiers, function generators, high-speed cameras, and microscopes (optical, SEM, AFM), will further strengthen your application.
How to Apply:
If you are interested in becoming part of our team, please send your CV, transcripts and a brief statement outlining your research interests to Prof. Nazanin Farjam at nfarjam@illinois.edu.
