Proofreading, National Council of Teachers of English

Proofreading

The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), a professional association of educators in English studies, literacy, and language arts, is developing a pool of freelance proofreaders available to work on a project-by-project basis.

Projects involve a variety of materials, including book manuscripts, journal articles, marketing and membership promotional materials, convention programs, webpages, and other publications. Those interested should possess strong English language skills (especially in the areas of grammar, spelling, and punctuation); good computer skills, including the ability to mark up PDFs; and an eye for detail. A degree in English or communications is preferred but not required.

Project-based proofreading is ideal for individuals who want to work over the summer and throughout at least the next academic year.
