Montage arts journal

More information will follow, but this is just a heads-up that Montage Arts Journal is accepting submissions for the Spring 2021 issue any time up to November 18, 2020.  Each submission should be limited to 3000 lines of prose, 300 lines of poetry, or 10 images.  For more information, email Luke Madden at lmadden2@illinois.edu. Nick Melrose is the new Peace Corps Strategic Campus Recruiter for this year!  Nick did his Peace Corps service in Thailand as an education volunteer from 2018-2020. Before joining the Peace Corps, he worked on campus as an academic advisor in the Department of Economics, and he’s glad to be returning to this community.  If you would like to know more about opportunities within the Peace Corps, get in touch with Nick at peacecorps@mx.uillinois.edu.

Join Sigma Tau Delta!

Join Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honors Society!  The first recruitment meeting will be on Wednesday, September 9 at 6 pm on Zoom (email for link and password). Members have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other English students, participate in volunteer opportunities, conferences, and social events (safely on Zoom or at a distance!), and work on your writing skills with chances to publish your papers!

The Illini Union Board is searching for passionate, organized, and responsible students to join the Cultural Committee. These students will help plan fun but educational events that promote an appreciation of diversity on campus. For more information or to indicate interest, email the director by Friday, Sept. 11.

This semester, The Center for Children’s Books will host several virtual lectures presented by visiting scholars on a variety of topics connected to literacy and youth services.  Join them on September 17th for the first lecture, on the subject of audio books!
