About Us

WHAT DO WE DO?

  • Volunteer at local elementary school classrooms (2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders) and do fun science experiments with the kids
  • Get students interested in STEM
  • Teach critical thinking, problem solving skills, and teamwork
  • Participate in Engineering Open House

EOS also has social and fundraising events with members to encourage networking, teamwork and fundraising for the organization.

WHERE DO WE GO?

EOS teaches at Franklin STEAM Academy, Leal Elementary School, Dr. Preston L. Williams Jr. Elementary School, Booker T. Washington STEM Academy. All schools are only about a mile or two off campus. We organize drivers who are able to meet at a centralized location on campus to bring members to the classrooms.

WHAT’S THE TIME COMMITMENT?

For the Fall 2024 semester, we volunteer twice a week, every other week. During the weeks we don’t volunteer, we hold social events. Each volunteering session (including transport to and from the school) lasts one hour. We do our best to accommodate the schedules of our members and cater volunteer opportunities and social events accordingly.

WHY SHOULD YOU GET INVOLVED?

  • If you have an interest in science or engineering
  • If you like working with kids
  • If you enjoy engaging with your local community
  • If you have creative ideas for hands-on projects and demonstrations
  • If you like being social and meeting people
  • If you would like to make a difference in children’s education
