The 2022 Emerging Contaminants in the Environment Conference (ECEC22) was on April 27-28, 2022. ECEC22 was originally planned as a hybrid conference. However, the conference organizers made the difficult decision to move the 2022 conference to virtual only out of an abundance of caution for everyone’s health and safety.
The conference featured traditional 15 minute presentations and lightning talks (5 minutes/no questions) on the latest in emerging contaminant research, policies, and outreach in the soil, water, and air. In addition, there was be plenty of opportunities for discussion and networking with those interested in all aspects of emerging contaminants in the environment.
Researchers, educators, businesses, government officials, regulatory agencies, policy makers, outreach and extension professionals, environmental groups, members of the general public, and medical, veterinary, and public health professionals were encouraged to submit abstracts and attend the conference.
The Emerging Contaminants in the Environment Conference, cohosted by the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center and Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant, has been held annually since 2016. ECEC22 is a certified green event by the University of Illinois’ Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment.
