The State of Illinois established the “Business Enterprise for Minorities, Women and Persons with Disabilities Act” to support underrepresented businesses. The act states that “not less than 30% of the total dollar amount of State contracts shall be established as an aspirational goal to be awarded to businesses owned by minorities, women, and persons with disabilities.” As a state institution, the University of Illinois is committed to achieving this goal.
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign was established in 1862 as one of 37 land-grant institutions established under the Morrill Act and has grown to become an educational beacon for faculty and students around the world.
