Teaching

After my time in Illinois, I have continued teaching Linguistics as a Lecturer at the University of California, Riverside (recurring: 2016, 2019-), where I have taught Syntax, Semantics, Morphology, and Language and the Brain.

At California State University Fullerton in Spring 2021, I taught SPAN 530, Graduate Seminar: Historical Linguistics.

At UIUC, I taught LING 210 ‘Language History’, from Fall 2013 to Spring 2015.

I was the Teaching Assistant for LING 301 (Spring 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015) and LING 307 (Fall 2012, Fall 2013).

I have also organized a weekly Beginners Research Group for undergraduates and beginning graduate students to discuss research projects and weekly themes such as research methodology or how to submit to and present at a conference. Additionally, I worked with and mentored several undergraduate students as research assistants for independent study credit.

In addition to my experience in the classroom, I completed a Graduate Teacher Certificate through the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning, UIUC, April 2015.

I was an official tutor for the EPI (English Proficiency Interview, a test for international TAs) via the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (2010-2015).

Beyond academia, I spent three months during the summer of 2011 as a volunteer teaching English in a public elementary school in Machala, El Oro, Ecuador.
