Postdoctoral Scholar, Brain and Cognitive Development Lab, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Dr. Dan Hyde is looking to hire a postdoctoral scholar to help lead an upcoming longitudinal study in the Brain and Cognitive Development Lab at University of Illinois in Champaign, IL. The project will employ both functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and event-related potentials (ERPs) to examine the relationship between functional brain re-organization and numeracy in children from 3-6 years with a multi-wave, longitudinal design.
During the earlier phases of the project, the postdoctoral scholar will help refine measures and study design, as well as participate in and supervise data collection with young children using brain (EEG/ERP, fNIRS) and behavioral measures. During the later phases the postdoctoral scholar will play a large role in data analyses, manuscript development, and data dissemination (e.g., conference presentation), and data curation. Significant contribution to either phase of the project will warrant authorship on resulting publications and presentations. Participation at any phase will also provide opportunities for novel, project development and continued future access to the rich and novel dataset resulting from this project.

Although not necessary, the ideal candidate will also have experience applying fNIRS and/or EEG/ERP with children, knowledge and a strong interest in numerical cognition and/or developmental cognitive neuroscience, a strong command of statistics, and competency is in working with multiple computer operating systems and programming languages.
