This website provides information about Tamarkoz® events for the University of Illinois and the broader Urbana-Champaign community. The events are sponsored by the University of Illinois Salaam MENA cultural center in collaboration with Wesley United Methodist Church.
About Tamarkoz
Tamarkoz® is the art of self-knowledge through concentration and meditation. It is a Sufi meditation practice that harmonizes all aspects of your being (your body, breath, senses, thoughts, and innate energies) so that you can recognize your true identity and can live in balance. These exercises teach you to release stress, focus, and gain a better understanding of yourself.
Attend a Tamarkoz Session
Sufi Meditation Sessions, using the Tamarkoz method, are held on the first Saturdays of every month from 11am-12:30pm at Wesley Student Center. The event is open to everybody; no meditation experience necessary! You are welcome to bring a yoga mat and journal, but these will be provided to those who don’t bring them. See details below.
