Call for Participation

The virtual Illinois Computer Science Summer Teaching Workshop brings together college instructors engaged with teaching computer science to discuss best practices, challenge the status quo, propose new directions, and present surprising or preliminary results. Since it began in 2020, the workshop has been a welcoming venue with over 100 participants each year and has accepted most proposals. This year, the theme of the workshop is Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC). The workshop will delve into the topics of creating more pathways into computing and fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in computing.

We invite 300-500 word abstract submissions for 10-minute presentations with a 5-minute Q&A (15 minutes total) on new and old BPC work. The sessions for this year’s workshop are:

  • Accessibility in the Classroom
  • Community College Pathways into Computing
  • K-12 Outreach into Computing
  • Social Justice and Computing

People from all experience levels (i.e., educators, students, researchers, postdocs) are welcome to submit.
